The Role
Autonomize AI is revolutionizing healthcare by combining data and context to streamline knowledge workflows, reduce administrative burdens, and improve patient outcomes. We are a high-velocity, mission-driven startup that values full-stack ownership, clear alignment, and customer obsession. You’ll help build AI-powered products that impact enterprise healthcare in the US and globally.
The Role
- Autonomize builds AI for healthcare operations: PA, UM, care management, PBM, appeals, claims, risk adjustment, quality, compliance. We're in production for US health plans.
- We need someone who looks at what our AI produces and tells us if it's clinically right. Not "looks reasonable." Right. You'd be the person who catches the wrong ICD10 specificity, the bad drug match, the criteria application that a nurse would flag in two seconds.
- You'll work with our US based clinical team (nurses, pharmacists, MDs who've done this work at payers and providers). They have the domain knowledge.
- You'll help get it into the product, and you verify the product gets it right.
- Review AI outputs and document what's wrong, specifically, with clinical reasoning
- Build evaluation datasets with correct answers, edge cases, and explanations for both
- Decide what "correct" means when the answer isn't obvious, because in healthcare it often isn't
- Tell engineering which gaps matter in a real PA workflow and which don't
- Run deidentified cases through our tools, write up where things break
- Write acceptance criteria a developer can build against and a clinician can verify. Triage clinical bugs. Sign off on releases.
- Clinical degree (MBBS, PharmD, nursing, or equivalent), 4+ years in US healthcare: PA, UM, care management, PBM, appeals, claims, risk adjustment, quality, or compliance
- ICD10CM, CPT, HCPCS, NDC, RxNorm. You spot wrong codes, not just recognize the acronyms.
- Have applied MCG, InterQual, or payercustom criteria in utilization review
- Know pharmacy: formulary, step therapy, quantity limits, specialty drug PA
- Can read a clinical note and pull out what matters, mapped to standard terminologies
- Have worked with engineers to ship software, or are ready to learn. We'll teach you how we work if you bring the clinical depth.
- Know how PA actually works inside a payer, medical and pharmacy side
- FHIR, HL7, or interoperability standards
- NLP/NER evaluation (precision, recall, F1 for clinical entities)
- Built labeled datasets for ML
- SNOMED CT, LOINC, MedDRA, or other UMLS vocabularies
- SQL or data analysis
- Highimpact opportunity to shape the future of AI in healthcare.
- Autonomy & ownership to own product and solution outcomes endtoend.
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
- Supportive environment with learning and growth opportunities.
