Finance Team reporting to Senior Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be integral to the success of our growing finance team. You will be responsible for posting daily transactions to various accounts and managing Accounts Payable and Receivable. You’ll keep all of our bank accounts organized and reconciled and help the Sr. Accountant and Controller create reports and maintain budgets. You’ll learn tons about accounting and Finance and how the startup ecosystem works.
What you will do…
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Review and approve bills in bill.com
- Maintain Vendors W-9 on the records
- Enter and review employees reimbursement report
- Update the accounts receivables on a daily basis, issue invoices and follow up with customers
- Create invoices for billable expense charges for all entities every week
- Enter company's credit cards transactions
- Reconcile bank accounts at the end of each month
- Record monthly prepaid amortization, depreciation, and accrual entries
- Assist senior accountant in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
- Assist with finance department projects
You'll know you're successful if....
- Your AP updates, bill preparations, and reconciliations are quick and accurate
- You can update AR, issue invoices and manage AR aging
- You regularly review and process expenses, payroll and commissions
- You can create accurate reports
- You can assist with/maintain cash flow projections
About you…
- You have a BS/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field with at least 1 year of accounting work experience.
- You have a good understanding of accounting/financial reporting principles and practices
- You are able to maintain confidentiality and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- You have a strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including the ability to work independently with formulas and structured spreadsheets.
- You have experience using common spreadsheet functions such as SUMIFS, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IF statements, and pivot tables.
- You are comfortable reviewing, troubleshooting, and maintaining shared spreadsheets used for accounting workflows.
- You are outgoing and can talk to just about anyone.
- You are a documentor. You make lists and spreadsheets.
- You are a problem solver. You look for ways to make things work better and how to turn chaos into systems.
- You are organized and plan ahead, but you don’t get stressed out when things change at the last minute… because they will. You roll with it.
- You are available to work at least 45 hours per week.
- You check your email in the evenings and are available to work during evening events and over the weekends when there is a tight deadline. You do what it takes to get the job done.
- You plan to stay in Texas and commit to this position for 2 years.
