Community Engagement Team reporting to Community Engagement Manager

Full-time in office

STATION Austin is a new nonprofit dedicated to empowering tech entrepreneurs in the heart of Texas. We’re looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Senior Event Specialist to execute programming that directly supports our members on their entrepreneurial journeys, helping them build relationships, access critical insights, and unlock new opportunities.

As a core member of the Community Engagement Team, you will bring the STATION Austin member experience to life through events that connect founders, mentors, investors, and partners—from curated roundtables and office hours to large-scale activations at Fed Supernova, CF House during SXSW, and Austin Tech Week. Your work will ensure that every interaction at STATION Austin feels intentional, valuable, and worth coming back for.

The ideal candidate is a strong operator who can manage multiple moving pieces, communicate clearly across teams, and deliver consistently high-quality experiences that deepen engagement and strengthen our community.

What you will do…

  • Execute high-quality programming for members and mentors, including VC Speaker Series, Critical Technology Series, and other curated, invite-only events.
  • Own the planning and execution of member-focused events such as roundtables, office hours, and small-group gatherings that drive meaningful connections.
  • Manage office-level member and mentor activation during cornerstone events (e.g., SXSW, Austin Tech Week, Fed Supernova), ensuring strong engagement and clear ways to participate.
  • Coordinate speakers and participants, including scheduling, briefing materials, run-of-show, and on-site support.
  • Handle end-to-end event logistics, including timelines, communications, setup, and day-of execution working hand-in hand with the Venue and Events team to ensure seamless execution
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement Manager and STATION Austin Managing Director to refine programming based on member needs.
  • Serve as a front-line host, ensuring a high-quality, professional experience for all attendees.

You'll know you're successful if....

  • Core programming (VC Series, Critical Technology Series, etc.) maintains 60%+ repeat attendance and contributes to overall member engagement and retention targets.
  • 70%+ of members attend at least one event per quarter, with strong participation during cornerstone activations (SXSW, Austin Tech Week, Fed Supernova).
  • 80%+ of surveyed members and mentors report that events helped them make a valuable connection (mentor, investor, partner, or peer).
  • 95%+ of events are executed on time and according to plan, with all logistics, communications, and deliverables completed accurately and without last-minute issues.
  • 90%+ of events have all key details (run of show, speaker confirmations, logistics, materials) finalized at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Post-event follow-up (including speaker thank-yous, next steps, and internal notes) is completed within 48 hours for 95%+ of events.
  • You implement at least 1–2 measurable improvements per quarter that increase attendance, satisfaction, or operational efficiency.

About you…

  • You have 2–5+ years of experience in event operations, community programming, or related roles. You have a passion for event management.
  • You are outgoing and can talk to just about anyone.
  • You are a documentor. You make lists and spreadsheets.
  • You are a problem solver. You look for ways to make things work better and how to turn chaos into systems.
  • You are organized and plan ahead, but you don’t get stressed out when things change at the last minute… because they will. You roll with it.
  • You check your email in the evenings and are available to work during evening events and over the weekends when there is a tight deadline. You do what it takes to get the job done.
  • You have a reliable laptop computer & smartphone that you are comfortable using for work.
  • You plan to stay in Texas for at least two years.

About our team...

  • We have a passion for startups and technology.
  • We are transparent and we over-communicate.
  • We have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • We communicate when we are not able to meet a deadline and suggest a solution.
  • We are professional and presentable and greet everyone cheerfully. We’re ready to deal with an immature student, a pushy salesperson, top VC’s, a fortune 500 CEO, and even the President of the United States.
  • We are excited to work in downtown Austin and have reliable transportation.
  • We have a quiet place where we can work remotely with fast internet.
  • We are security aware. We have a passcode on our computers and phones and use a password manager.
  • We are able to efficiently use the Google suite of productivity tools (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • We are available to work during SXSW (Spring Break), DREAMCON (one week long staff summits twice a year), and Austin Tech Week.
  • We get to Inbox Zero every day.
  • 4 weeks paid time off (one week is between Christmas and New Year’s)
  • Personal health, vision and dental insurance paid 100% by Capital Factory
  • Additional benefits such as 401k program (50% company matching), life insurance, short & long term disability and and employee assistance program
  • Parental leave including 10 weeks paid leave for birthing parents and 4 weeks paid leave for non-birthing parents
  • $1,000 personal innovation budget on your first year anniversary and then an additional $500 each anniversary thereafter
  • Coworking membership at Capital Factory with garage parking space, metro pass, or rideshare credits and access to the onsite gym
  • A priceless network
