At Captain (captainexperiences.com), we’re building a platform for outdoor sports based on the belief that everyone deserves easy access to exploring the outdoors.
Focused first on fishing, we'll soon unlock all outdoor sports and geographies, and leading venture investors including Andrew Chen at a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Goodwater Capital, Not Boring Capital, Capital Factory, and others back us in making our passion our profession. We hope you’ll join us.
Who You Are:
We’re hiring a hard-working, creative, growth-minded marketer excited to present Captain to millions of adventurers and guides across all outdoor sports and geographies.
You’ll work directly with our founders to double-down on existing marketing strategies while also blazing new paths into additional marketing channels and partnerships.
You’re not only excited to oversee the overall marketing strategy and team, but also eager to roll up your sleeves to make it happen yourself, and you jump at the opportunity to contribute to brand creation, vision, and strategy.

-Organic acquisition and product-led growth leaning
-Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and wear many hats
-Experience in / knowledge of the outdoor industry preferred
-Located in or willing to relocate to Austin, Texas
-Value in-person collaboration (we work 3 days in person per week from our downtown Austin office)
What You Do:
-Work directly with founders to oversee the strategic direction and expansion of our marketing strategies
-Build on our SEO foundation to grow our organic digital footprint
-Ideate, plan, and implement multi-pronged marketing campaigns across new and existing outdoor sports verticals
-Generate a holistic social media and blog strategy for visual and written content, leveraging content to promote growth
-Develop and promote the Captain brand in conjunction with our summer ‘22 rebranding
-Find and build new customer acquisition funnels while optimizing existing channels with a focus on efficient customer acquisition
-Coach and develop an internal marketing team of 3 and hire top talent as the team scales
-Work side-by-side with the Product team to stoke adventurer and guide referrals, increase word of mouth, implement our summer ‘22 rebrand, create automated campaigns, and increase engagement tracking
-Increase AOV and LTV via personalization and retention
-Drive brand partnerships across the outdoors and travel
-Lead strategic planning and budgeting, including detailed forecasting and establishing the resource plan to hit and exceed forecasts.
-Support the design and implementation of a referral / word of mouth engine for adventurers and guides
-Mission to Unlock the Outdoors across all outdoor sports and geographies
-Fulfilling work as part of an early-stage, high-growth team working directly alongside founders
-Ability to help shape the culture and future of Captain
