The Role

We are hiring a Head of Engineering to lead and grow Telgea’s engineering function.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who enjoys working close to the product, the architecture, and the people. You will lead a small, experienced team today and scale it thoughtfully as the company grows.

You will work closely with the founders in daily decision-making and help set the technical and cultural direction of the company.

The Challenge

Telecom has been built country by country for decades. The result is a fragmented global system where reliability, data consistency, and billing correctness break down as soon as companies operate across borders.

Telgea is changing that.

We are building a global telecom platform that turns dozens of national operators into one coherent system. A platform where mobile connectivity works the same way everywhere, and where IT managers can trust that provisioning, usage data, and billing are correct, transparent, and reliable.

This is not just a scaling challenge. It is a systems challenge. You will be responsible for designing and evolving the foundation that allows Telgea to connect 100+ operators while remaining stable, secure, and compliant.

The decisions you make will define how telecom works at a global level and will shape Telgea’s technical architecture for many years to come.

What You Will Do

Lead and grow the engineering team

• Develop a team culture centered on ownership, quality, and performance.
• Support engineers through coaching, reviews, and thoughtful structure
• Hire and scale the team with long-term quality in mind
• Optimize the team efficiency through AI

Own delivery and reliability

• Turn product priorities into clear plans and engineering commitments
• Ensure delivery is predictable, stable, and transparent
• Balance new development with improving system robustness over time

Set the technical direction

• Own the platform architecture and technical standards
• Review designs and implementations in critical areas
• Step in hands-on where needed, to ensure timely delivery and quality.
• Make well-reasoned trade-offs and coordinate them clearly with stakeholders

Work closely with the founders

• Partner in daily sparring around priorities, trade-offs, and execution
• Help the company focus on the problems that matter most
• Take full ownership of engineering decisions once direction is set

What We’re Looking For

You are likely a strong match if you have:

• Led engineering teams in fast-growing product companies
• Scaled teams from roughly 5 to 15 engineers
• Built and operated complex systems end to end
• Experience with reliability-critical or data-heavy platforms
• A calm, structured approach to decision-making under uncertainty
• Solid English verbal and written communication skills and a high sense of ownership

Experience with billing systems, infrastructure-heavy products, or telecom complexity is a big plus, but not required.

Technical Environment

You don’t need to match everything exactly, but you should be comfortable leading in this space:

• Frontend: React, TypeScript, Tailwind
• Backend: node.js , Typescript(Python is v0)
• Infrastructure: Docker, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), cloud platforms (GCP preferred), Kubernetes
• Bonus: telecom integrations, usage data pipelines, billing systems
