About the Team
Cardlytics is establishing an engineering hub in Taiwan, and building a productive and innovative engineering team there. This engineering team will be an integral part of the Cardlytics engineering organization. The team will be responsible for the successful software delivery of key products and services, and contribute to the advancement of Cardlytics’ platform and product suite.
About the Position
Cardlytics is seeking a Director of Engineering to report directly to the Taiwan Site Leader and Senior Director of Engineering. In this role, you will serve as both a technical expert and a people manager, driving the successful delivery of high-impact Machine Learning and Data Services while mentoring, coaching, and fostering career development for engineers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide your team in designing, developing, and delivering robust, scalable products and services that align with product and business objectives.
This role is ideal for a talented engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of technical expertise and people management, and enjoys working in a dynamic, cross-functional environment while aligning technical execution with business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Lead development and research efforts in building up creative Commerce AI Technologies to outstand the leadership of Cardlytics in the market.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and engineers, to transform unstructured and noisy transaction data into advanced, data-centric solutions integrated into our platform.
Overseeing project management and Agile Scrum processes to ensure efficient delivery of high-quality products within defined timelines.
Ensuring code quality, setting best practices, and driving engineering excellence across all software development processes.
Coaching and mentoring engineering team while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or related field
10+ years of experience in the machine learning field and AI applications, including 5+ years managing engineering teams
Proficiency in machine learned algorithms, statistical modeling, data preprocessing, and metrics evaluation, with a proven track record of delivering machine learning solutions in a production environment.
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, Spark or Scala
Skilled in goal setting, coaching, and mentoring junior engineers
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English
Preferred Qualifications:
Practical experience in applying machine learning to ranking, recommendation, or predicting clicks and conversions
Substantial experience in Agile methodologies and Scrum management, including leading sprints, facilitating daily stand-ups, and ensuring continuous delivery
Practical experience with AWS ecosystems (such as SageMaker, EMR, Bedrock) or Databricks for building machine learning and AI applications
Experience with large-scale data processing technologies like Scala/Spark, Airflow or real-time systems like Kafka/Kinesis
Experience leveraging Generative AI technologies, such as LLM, Prompt engineering, RAG, and Agentic workflow
Technical Environment
We primarily use macOS and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides). While our preferred platform is macOS, we support both macOS and Windows. Familiarity with or willingness to work within this environment is required.
