ABOUT GLĪD TECHNOLOGIES

Glīd Technologies is transforming first-mile logistics with autonomous road-to-rail vehicles, AI-powered logistics platforms, and human-centered workforce strategies. Our products — GlīderM, EZRA-1SIX, and Rāden — are designed to move goods cleaner, faster, and smarter while creating economic opportunities in the communities we serve.

Founded by a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran with SpaceX experience, Glīd is led by a team with deep technical and operational expertise from industry leaders including Bombardier, Google, and other world-class organizations. We combine a mission-driven mindset with relentless innovation to deliver solutions that benefit both industry and people.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Sentinels are Glīd's frontline operators — the special forces of our field team. You'll operate the GlīderM, a Peterbilt 567 dual-mode vehicle equipped with a Palfinger hooklift, on both public roads and standard-gauge rail. Your mission is moving 20' containers and swap bodies for shortline railroad and industrial customers across Texas, executing inspections and field maintenance, and serving as Glīd's on-site ambassador at every customer location.

This is not a standard trucking or railroad job. It sits at the intersection of both — and Glīd will train you for everything you don't already have.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the GlīderM in both road and rail modes across commercial, industrial, and rail yard environments

  • Perform rail-to-truck and truck-to-rail container and swap body transfers using the integrated Palfinger hooklift (50,000 lb capacity)

  • Execute mode transitions between road and rail per Glīd standard operating procedures

  • Conduct pre-trip, in-operation, and post-trip inspections of road systems, Palfinger hooklift, and rail guide wheel assemblies

  • Manage all mission activity through the EZRA-1SIX platform — logging load events, mode transitions, route compliance, and incidents in real time

  • Coordinate with railroad dispatchers and Roadway Workers in Charge (RWIC) to obtain track authority and maintain on-track safety

  • Perform authorized field-level maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

  • Support digital twin development by collecting operational data, logging component performance, and documenting anomalies

  • Provide operational feedback to Glīd's engineering, product, and safety teams to improve system performance

  • Maintain readiness for rapid deployment to customer sites, test facilities, and pilot programs

  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FRA, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory frameworks at all times

REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • CDL Class A — valid, with applicable endorsements for cargo and route type

  • Current DOT Medical Certificate (49 CFR Part 391)

  • Clean MVR and compliance with DOT drug & alcohol testing (49 CFR Part 382)

  • Technical knowledge of vehicle systems, hydraulics, and power electronics

  • Comfort operating remote platforms, telematics, and digital mission management tools

  • Strong problem-solving ability; thrives in high-tempo, field-based environments

Preferred

  • Hi-rail or dual-mode vehicle experience

  • Experience with hooklift trucks or hydraulic load-handling equipment

  • Background in shortline or Class I railroad switching operations

  • Proficiency in machine shop practices, welding, and metal fabrication

  • Prior military or industrial field operations experience

  • HOS logging experience

TRAINING & CERTIFICATION — FULLY PROVIDED BY GLĪD

No prior rail certification is required. Glīd provides all of the following before solo operations:

  • 49 CFR Part 214 Roadway Worker Protection (RWP)

  • Host railroad operating rules (including applicable General Code of Operating Rules training for customer properties)

  • GlīderM type qualification — road systems, Palfinger hooklift operation, rail guide wheel procedures, and mode transition

  • EZRA-1SIX operator certification

  • Ongoing recertification covered for the duration of employment

WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL

This role is travel-heavy. Expect multi-day and multi-week deployments to customer sites, rail yards, ports, and industrial facilities across Texas. Work is performed outdoors and in active industrial environments in all weather conditions.

Required PPE at all times on-site: ANSI Class 2 hi-vis vest, hard hat, steel-toed boots, gloves, and eye protection.
