ICON is looking for an experienced and dynamic Deputy General Counsel to join our team. The Deputy General Counsel will report to the General Counsel and work with executives in ICON’s technology, manufacturing, supply chain, product, and R&D teams. The ideal candidate will have a mix of in-house and law firm experience with prior experience working at a technology or high-growth company.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal counsel on complex business, product, and contract-related matters across ICON's technology, manufacturing, supply chain, product, and R&D teams.
  • Manage and oversee a team of attorneys, directing and coordinating their work on deal flow, contractual obligations, go-to-market strategies, sales enablement, channel relationships, and revenue generation.
  • Proactively advise on legal implications of new business models and product offerings, ensuring their successful launch and ongoing compliance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to build, maintain, and assert ICON's intellectual property portfolio.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with senior executives and leaders across the organization, fostering a collaborative legal environment.
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential legal risks with a keen eye for emerging issues in technology, privacy, and data collection.
  • Oversee outside legal counsel, ensuring efficient and cost-effective management of external resources.
  • Provide insightful legal advice on a broad spectrum of topics, including privacy, data collection, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school or its international equivalent.
  • Active membership in the TX State Bar Association.
  • 12+ years of experience in a high-growth company, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior legal leadership role.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic legal counsel and leading high-performing legal teams.
  • Deep understanding of business operations, risk management, and negotiation strategies in the technology sector.
  • Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills, adept at navigating complex legal matters for both legal and non-legal audiences.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience negotiating and drafting sophisticated B2B software and hardware commercial contracts, license agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations and emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
  • Experience navigating government procurement processes and regulations.
