The Deputy General Counsel will report to the General Counsel and work with executives in ICON’s technology, manufacturing, supply chain, product, and R&D teams. The ideal candidate will have a mix of in-house and law firm experience with prior experience working at a technology or high-growth company.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal counsel on complex business, product, and contract-related matters across ICON's technology, manufacturing, supply chain, product, and R&D teams.
- Manage and oversee a team of attorneys, directing and coordinating their work on deal flow, contractual obligations, go-to-market strategies, sales enablement, channel relationships, and revenue generation.
- Proactively advise on legal implications of new business models and product offerings, ensuring their successful launch and ongoing compliance.
- Develop and implement strategies to build, maintain, and assert ICON's intellectual property portfolio.
- Cultivate strong relationships with senior executives and leaders across the organization, fostering a collaborative legal environment.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential legal risks with a keen eye for emerging issues in technology, privacy, and data collection.
- Oversee outside legal counsel, ensuring efficient and cost-effective management of external resources.
- Provide insightful legal advice on a broad spectrum of topics, including privacy, data collection, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school or its international equivalent.
- Active membership in the TX State Bar Association.
- 12+ years of experience in a high-growth company, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior legal leadership role.
- Proven track record of providing strategic legal counsel and leading high-performing legal teams.
- Deep understanding of business operations, risk management, and negotiation strategies in the technology sector.
- Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills, adept at navigating complex legal matters for both legal and non-legal audiences.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience negotiating and drafting sophisticated B2B software and hardware commercial contracts, license agreements, and vendor contracts.
- In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations and emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
- Experience navigating government procurement processes and regulations.
