SUMMARY

We are seeking an Operating Command Engineer/ Network Operations Center Engineer to oversee our Hybrid infrastructure health, application health, networks, products and computer systems. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring the performance and capacity of our computer systems, troubleshooting problems, and responding to network issues. You may also be required to configure system hardware and manage system back-ups as per the business requirements. To ensure success the success of oneself and the Operating Command Center, you must demonstrate advanced knowledge of network deployment and infrastructure, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work flexible hours and rotational shifts with changing week-offs.

A Operating Command Engineer will be able to diagnose and resolve network issues without causing extended downtime of the IT systems and preventing the Incidents to the best extent.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze events/ alerts/ Service requests on various monitoring tools like SCOM.
  • Monitor performance of windows servers and hardware components and maintain a healthy server environment through troubleshooting.
  • Communicate with site technicians or Resolver parties responsible for resolution
  • Investigate service outages, incidents and system issues, log and track in incident reporting system.
  • Understanding of contemporary security technologies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of Server On-Prem hardware and Basic Cloud architecture are expected.
  • DNS and common tools for troubleshooting (eg:ping, traceroute, netstat, nslookup, etc., )
  • Should have a basic understanding of Distributed Computing (load balancers, service clusters, server pools, etc., )
  • Basic level of Linux administration and Windows Administration (Memory, disk and CPU evaluation, application restart, log management, shell scripts) and emphasis on RHEL.
  • Adhere to SOPs and keep up to date the Inventory of all nodes along with the impact and callout sheet.
  • Knowledge and experience in few {or all} - Java applications, Jboss, Apache, Tomcat, ActiveMQ, Mule, Pentaho, JasperReports, Solarwinds, Zabbix and Dynatrace
  • Entry level knowledge in Basics of Networking and Infrastructure, plus Load balancers.
  • Understanding of API/ scripting and assist with automation solutions wherever applicable.

Scope of Responsibility

  • L1 and L2 troubleshooting skills on server performance, hardware and other windows OS related issues are must.
  • Hosting Critical Incidents, documenting and assisting MIM towards resolution and contributing partially to RCA Meetings.
  • Usage of Paging tools like PagerDuty is expected.
  • Troubleshooting skills on disk space issues on windows and linux servers
  • Utilize APIs when appropriate to write network/system level scripts for automation
  • Install / upgrade patches, troubleshoot as necessary and provide technical support.
  • Familiarity with Basic level of SQL Job handling and MS-Database Administration and applications.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Be adaptable for rotational/ flexible working shift schedule including rotational week-offs, without exceptions.
  • Thorough knowledge of emergency procedures; ability to manage emergency situations while handling normal control center functions.
  • Depict passion for IT and ITes Support Systems
  • Ability to multi-task multiple job duties while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize decisions based upon multiple criteria and identifiable standards of policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively interact with professional personnel at all levels within the company, outside service providers.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. These include the ability to read and write the English language and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions and reports.
  • Ability to work independently and a trait of initiative and ownership.
  • Candidates with ITIL v3 or v4 certification possess an advantage.
