ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Translation Manager, you will oversee multilingual translation projects for clinical trials, managing deliverables across 2–60 target languages. Your expertise in project management, linguistic quality, and regulatory compliance will ensure timely, accurate translations that meet global standards. Reporting to the Director of Growth Operations, you will optimise workflows, lead vendor networks, and drive efficiency in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Translation Coordination and Vendor Management

• Manage end-to-end multilingual translation projects, prioritising clinical trial materials.
• Source, onboard, and maintain relationships with freelance translators, agencies, and translation assistants.
• Assign tasks based on language expertise, subject matter (e.g., medical/regulatory content), and project scope.
• Monitor project timelines, quality, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., EMA, FDA, ICH-GCP).
• Conduct quality checks for terminology consistency, cultural adaptation, and regulatory alignment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with content creators, writers, and designers to ensure translated materials are visually and contextually aligned.
• Advise on cultural/linguistic adaptations to meet legal requirements and enhance engagement across diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with medical and regulatory teams to validate the technical accuracy of translations.

Project and Process Optimization

• Develop scalable workflows and guidelines for large-scale multilingual projects.
• Track budgets, timelines, and performance metrics to ensure cost-effective delivery.
• Implement QA processes, including linguistic validation and back-translation as needed.
• Streamline tools and systems (e.g., TMS, CAT tools) to improve efficiency.

Compliance and Industry Expertise

• Stay updated on clinical trial regulations, medical terminology, and regional requirements.
• Ensure translations comply with global standards (e.g., FDA, EMA) and local market expectations.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Life Sciences, Project Management, or related field.
• 3+ years of project management experience, preferably in clinical trials, healthcare, or life sciences.
• Experience in medical writing, regulatory affairs, or linguistic validation processes (e.g., back-translation).
• Proven track record managing freelancers, agencies, or cross-functional teams.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in translation management systems (TMS) and CAT tools (e.g., MemoQ, Trados, Smartling).
• Familiarity with design/writing software (e.g., Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office) for collaboration with creative teams.
• Strong analytical skills to manage budgets, timelines, and performance metrics.

Soft Skills

• Strong negotiation and communication skills for stakeholder management.
• Proactive mindset to anticipate challenges and optimise processes.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
