About the Team
Downstream is disrupting the waste and hauling industry by bridging the gap between consumers and hauling services via a connected marketplace. Our mission is to close the loop on America’s supply chain by transforming the waste and hauling industry through innovative technology. We are seeking a Business Development Representative to join our mission. You will be joining an early-stage growth focused startup with a team of entrepreneurs seeking to disrupt a multi-billion-dollar industry. Our business is fast paced and ever evolving, but with a focus on making Downstream a great place to work and grow.
As our first dedicated business development rep, you will partner directly with our sales manager and founders as we build out Downstream’s network and service offerings. You will be responsible for creating and executing lead generating activities to provide transparent and simple waste solutions. In this role you are the tip of the spear for our business development and sales functions. You are responsible for prospecting, generating new sales opportunities and turning prospects into loyal Downstream customers. While the core of your activities will fall into the business development role, as a small team taking on a huge challenge, we all wear many hats and there will be many opportunities to expand beyond the core role. As one of Downstream’s first hires, you will have a front-row seat and active hand in building and shaping our trajectory.

About the Role
- Generating leads for waste and hauling services through cold calling, inbound leads, preparing bids, and maintaining existing relationships
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of opportunities for recurring and on-demand service bookings
- Gathering service contract expiration dates of prospect customers
- Build and manage relationships with Downstream’s network of suppliers

What We're Looking For
- 2 years of experience with account management, customer support, hospitality or in related field
- Qualifications include Salesforce (or other CRM software) and Microsoft suite
- Proficiency in excel (can perform complex functions)
- Experience providing advisory and partnership-level support through both proactive and reactive interactions with customers
- Experience advocating for customer experience within a team or initiative
- You have experience in an account management or customer service
- You excel at building relationships
- You excel at determining prioritization
- You're creative
- You love thinking about new opportunities for process improvement
